'I'll Remember You:' Things to do in Memphis during Elvis Week 2011
Well, it’s that time of year again – the time when Elvis fans gather in Memphis to honor the memory of Elvis Presley, who passed away nearly 34 years ago on August 16, 1977.
For newcomers to Elvis Week, a number of events sanctioned by Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE) are underway. Kevin Kern, Director of Public Relations for EPE, graciously consented to an interview earlier this week, answering several questions concerning Elvis Week:

“It serves as a way for EPE to communicate directly with fan clubs, face to face, as they hear a re-cap of news since the last meeting during Birthday Week and an occasional first look at new news from the Elvis world, along with the occasional special visitor.”
Held at the Fogelman Executive Conference Center (part of the University of Memphis), the Fan Club Presidents’ Event is a unique method for fan clubs from around the world to come together and raise money for charity in Elvis’ name. A short ceremony often occurs as each fan club presents a check to the charity of their choice.
Elvis was one of the most generous human beings that walked this planet Earth, always taking time to help those less fortunate, pose for pictures with fans, or sign autographs.
EPE will also deliver the latest news in the Elvis world as well as providing some glimpses into their various upcoming projects. In honor of the 55th anniversary of 1956, the special guest for the event will be D.J. Fontana, and he will participate in a 45-minute interview session hosted by disc jockey Argo of Sirius/XM Elvis Radio.
