Best in Blogs: Are the Rich More Selfish Than the Poor?
You are spot on-in 2007 we were in Salzburg, Austria and the news was running a documentary, by an African journalist for the BBC, based on the premise that all the aid to Africa from NGOs, the UN etc was actually harmful as it was not effedtively monitored and was siphoned off for corrupt purposes from drugs, to Swiss bank account for the current rulers, to weapons, bribes etc-little of it met its mark; the rich are largely naive if anything and tend to discount the real brutal truth about base human nature-or maybe they just want the credit that comes from being charitable w/o doing the work that following up would require.
The poor are way more selfish than the rich. They refuse to work and expect someone else to pay for everything. When they do get money they go blow it on vices like gambling, cigarettes, and booze. We working, over taxed citizens have to get up at 4-5am every day go to a job we barely like and then work 5 or 6 mos to break even on taxes that we hardly see a benefit in..like public transportion, free housing, welfare, medicaid, etc. I would just like a thank you card once in a while. Maybe Sally Struthers can send me a picture of the 20-30 bums I am supporting once a month.

Question: I was looking into bidding at the city's abandoned-vehicle auctions but have a few concerns: 1. If a car has back taxes due, am I responsible for paying them? 2. If there is a stopper on the registration, what do I need to do? 3.
These 6 Guidelines will help you swiftly sell your vehicle
If you have ever had to purchase a vehicle, it is likely that you had a painful and time-consuming experience. However, it is even more exasperating when you need to sell a vehicle, and people rarely talk about this fact. When a person buys a new car, he or she immediately wishes to dispose off the old one due to cost implications and some other reasons. How then can you find a purchaser for your dearly loved vehicle without hassles?
Use these 6 guidelines to dispose off your old vehicle and purchase a new one fast.
1. Understand the Market
The market for fairly used vehicles is quite huge. Bring out some time and survey what is happening in the market before you begin advertising your car. You can spend some time like one or two weeks on Craiglist to check what’s happening to vehicles just like yours. Are people buying them or are the vehicles just hanging out there with no body showing any sign of interest. At what prices are the vehicles being offered? You should also check out dealerships to find out the prices they are offering your type of vehicle. Understanding the market will help you set practical expectations helping you save time by not listing your vehicle at a very high price.
2. Anticipate a downward negotiation
Potential buyers would like to negotiate with you on the price you listed for your vehicle. You must remember this when putting a price tag on your vehicle so that when people offer you a lesser price, you do not get offended. If you however state that your price is “fixed”, then people will not call you for negotiation, however, some people who might be interested in buying may be put off by this.
3. Keep it Clean
The way the car is presented matters a lot. People that buy vehicles directly from the original owner usually rely mainly on how the vehicle looks to make the decision of whether the vehicle is worth buying and the amount they should pay for it. It will be worth your while to meticulously clean the vehicle, freshly polish the body, and carefully clean the inside – you can also hire someone to carryout this task on your behalf – before you display the vehicle for sale.
4. Get all the car’s papers set for scrutiny
Carefully bring out any documents that your vehicle may have. You should bring out documents like the specifications sheet, registration, the title, service records and any other thing that you would ask for when purchasing a vehicle. You will also need to log on to the internet and get your car’s CarFax statement with which a prospective buyer can ascertain the level of damage the car has suffered through the years. If you provide a prospective buyer with this information upfront, his level of trust will surely increase and the process of selling off your car may well take less time.
