Dorymen's Associaton presents first Dorymen's Ball

PACIFIC CITY - The Pacific City Dorymen's Association, a 501c3 non-profit, is sponsoring its first Dorymen's Ball on Aug. 13 at the Kiawanda Community Center located on Cape Kiwanda Drive in Pacific City.

Doors will open at 10 a.m. with a fishing gear sale. Good used donated commercial and recreational fishing gear will be sold at great prices until 4:30 p.m.

A pot luck dinner/dance will start at 5 p..m, with music donated by Salem musician/songwriter Mark Seymour. Suggested dinner/dance donations are $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 & under.

All donations benefit the Dorymen's Memorial Wall Fund and are tax deductible. The groups plans on adding two wings to the wall to accommodate the names of the dories not engraved on the main wall, and to contain space for more boats in the future. The Dorymen also will build a concrete dory console in front of the Memorial facing the surf. In the future, a bronze doryman will stand behind that console also facing the surf.
