Man had Killingworth house petrol bombed

ANGRY Gary Thrower organised a petrol-bombing of his friend’s parents’ home after a Facebook row.

Thrower had previously been friends with Jordan Kennedy but they had fallen out.

The dispute came to a head with the pair exchanging abusive messages on the social networking site.

During that online conversation, Mr Kennedy’s mother, Jayne Montgommery, posted a message telling her son to have nothing to do with Thrower.

His angry response was to get an associate to throw a petrol bomb at Mrs Montgommery’s home as she and her family slept.

Mrs Montgommery said in a statement read to Newcastle Crown Court: “I was in shock and didn’t feel safe afterwards.

“I have been in denial about it, I didn’t want to think what might have happened.

“I’m now frightened to go anywhere, and I hope the person responsible realises how serious this could have been.”

The arson attack happened at Mrs Montgommery’s home on Coniston Close, Killingworth, on May 17 last year.

Thrower denied it was him who actually threw the petrol bomb, but he pleaded guilty to arson, accepting it was his idea.

A couple of weeks after the incident, he rang Mr Kennedy and said: “If your mam didn’t get involved in the argument I would not have had to petrol bomb your house.”

Sending Thrower to a young offender institute for two years, Judge John Evans told him: “It may be your intention was to make a point rather than to inflict serious damage.

“However, one never knows when one starts a fire in this way how they will develop, there is a chance it may be more extensive.”

As well as the arson Thrower, 20, of Fern Drive, Dudley, also admitted threatening to kill his own young son after a custody dispute with his ex partner.

He was given a restraining order to keep him away from the woman as part of the sentence.

Tom Moran, defending, said: “The object was thrown against a wall but there was no risk to anyone and he didn’t throw it himself.
