The Day Baby was Born.............................

Starting the first day you find out your pregnant(or anytime you want), The Day Baby was Born will collect all of the milestones you choose into a unique storybook. Because the day will come when your baby starts growing up and you will want to look back on that amazing day they came into the world your story book will be there to highlight the details. I woke up that Friday morning with a feeling that something was different. Since this was my first baby I had no idea what to expect, so losing my plug to me was a HUGE deal. I found out a few minutes later that it meant nothing, and can happen days to even weeks before baby came. I was hoping for days since I was already 39+ weeks. I told my husband not to go to work that day because today was going to be the day. He went to work anyways since I had thought other days were going to be "that day"(we made quite a few trips for false labor). I knew.............so I started cleaning the house, folding baby clothes getting everything ready for my little baby boy. Contractions started and slowly got closer together. My mom arrived and started the stopwatch. Looking back now, it was funny to remember how nervous she was. I continued vacuuming as she counted and demanded we leave for the Dr now. I refused stating I was NOT going until I was closer. I climbed the stairs, mopped the floor, did everything I could to make these contractions stick. When they got to me every 5-7 minutes for over an hour, my mom said NO MORE we are going. Hmm, if I had known then that it would be a grueling 13 hours all together I would have taken a nap. It was by far not the experience I had wanted when it comes to the labor or birth but the outcome was far greater than I ever could have imagined. Fast Eddy arrived at 12:26 early in the morning, weighing 7 lbs 15 oz 21 inches long. My husband and family had been anxiously awaiting his arrival from the hall, when they wheeled him out. My husband says the staff didn't even say which baby was his, he already knew. I will never forget those first few days home with our new baby boy. Neither one of us had a clue what to do with him, so we just sat on the couch for that first week staring at him. He was just soo incredibly beautiful. I studied every inch of his little body, amazed by God's works. My little baby is not so much a little baby anymore- he is growing up and it makes me cry. He reminds me every day to cherish these days when they are small- to not forget a single moment.

Well well well…. I’ve finally done it. I’ve been talking about getting a new tattoo for about, mmm, 3 years? I just happen to know a lovely lady, who just happens to be a wicked artist, and just happens to own a tattoo parlour, that just happens to be situated downtown Lennox Head.

Anyway… this idea has changed form so many times and this is what came from a session with the wonderfully funky spunkrat Milly Loveknuckles at Rock of Ages , Lennox.

But before I upload the photos of my new arm, I have to show you my Dad’s tattoo. He had this done in 1958 or 59, by Tiger Mitchell in Auckland, NZ. I remember when I was young, thinking that this was the coolest tattoo ever because Dad always told us it meant “peace”. This photo was taken while I was getting mine done today….

So this is my little gallery of the arvo with Milly. The monarch butterfly represents my Mum. The flower blooms on a native NZ tree, the kowhai, and our whanau (family) name is Te Kowhai. So when Milly told me the monarch would look better with a flower, it only made sense for the flower to be a kowhai. Now you might not ever see a monarch land on a kowhai in real life… but it has on my arm.
